Five Festive Party Themes

Posted on

If you’ve got that party planning spirit in you, we bet you’re just like us…geared up and ready to start this festive season!

What better time to congregate with all of your friends…and have an excuse to decorate as well? Looking for something a bit more original? (We've all been to the Ugly Sweater Party more than once...) We’ve gathered up five fun and festive party themes sure to leave your friends in awe of your shin-ding!

1. Merry & Bright Sparkle

There's only one rule for this party. Be sure to sparkle. Your goal is for the decor to be both blinding and beautiful. Find glitter spray paint to enhance branches and utilize edible glitter for your sweet treats. Encourage guests to wear their most sequined and bedazzled attire. Party food should compliment the theme. Get ready for a special night of sparkle!

2. Hot Cocoa Bar

This won't be your average hot chocolate. To spice things up, offer various flavors of hot chocolate and coffee, with fun mix-ins and various marshmallows and garnishes. Decorate with plaids, branches and other rustic forest touches. Your friends will love creating their own masterpiece and sipping on these warm delicacies while mingling. Compliment the sweet drinks with unique crackers, cheeses and fruits. Maybe even offer kabob building to go along with the hot cocoa creation!

3. Hometown Potluck

This party is sure to make all of your guests a little nostalgic! Ask everyone to bring their favorite traditional holiday dish. This way your friends can display their heritage and favorite flavors! Delight in platters from all over the country (or globe!). We think this is a unique way to get to know your friends on a new level, and chow down on a delicious array of food!

4. Board Game Bash

Let your competitive nature come out to play on this night! Break out challenging and mind-boggling games, along with lighthearted crowd-pleasers and childhood favorites. Offer a popcorn bar or themed sweets (we love these domino brownies). Your friends will never questions your Clue-winning streak ever again.

5. Xmas DIY Night

This party is aimed at your craftier friends. The ones you suspect might own a glue-gun and frequent Pinterest. Spend a night in with your pals and gather materials for a few select DIY projects (scour Pinterest for ideas!) that can be gifted! For example, everyone makes a hostess gift in preparation for a Thanksgiving or Christmas party they will attend. This way, you can all bond, laugh over mistakes and cheer each other in crafting accomplishments. You'll all have something to show for at the end of the night, and a handmade gift ready for the NEXT holiday party!
